Highly recommended! Loved the breathtaking coast and mountain view. Stayed for one night and wished a bit longer. Although the facilities are not new, friendly staffs here are trying their best to maintain and keep Akazawa Onsen hotel its own charm. Fresh and delicious buffet breakfast with food reflect the character of Izu / Shizuoka, lots of choices from Japanese style fish, porridge, side dishes to western eggs, grilled veggies and pastries. Our 和洋room is so spacious with tatami living area and two double beds. We enjoyed the amazing ocean view from the room balcony. Beds are very comfortable. Yukata, The light cotton kimono bathrobe or roomwear provided by the hotel, has many patterns to choose from, this is also an adorable feature of this hotel. The public outdoor onsen overlooking the ocean is just stunning, with the beautiful natural surrounding, you can feel the true relaxation the moment step in.

Clearly, we liked the place since we did not step outside the building for 3 days. The room is spacious, and the spa options delightful. Greatly enjoyed the massage. We looked forward to the breakfast buffet every morning. We ate one night at the hotel restaurant, which requires reservations. Fine dining, and I was happily surprised that they even remembered my egg allergy and modified my dish accordingly. The robes are comfortable. Why wear street clothes!? The views of the ocean, amazing, and if you have time, go for a walk around. I could go on. If you don't speak at least some Japanese, staying here might be awkward. Our Japanese was enough to get by. BTW, there is an easy and cheap way to get there, almost all by train, and there is a shuttle from the last station to the hotel, but you need to plan that in advance. Overall, the staff were lovely. Definitely suggest this place and would return.

Spacious rooms, suitable for families. Great onsen, including option to rent the private one for 3000 yen, and enjoy ocean view. You can bring small kids there and of course, take photos. A large park is just few steps from the hotel. If you have a driving license, you can rent something like a golf cart for free and enjoy! There is a good cost-performance restaurant nearby. Famous sightseeing spots are within 10-15 min by car!

Loved our stay at the hotel, buffet breakfast is delicious with a variety of food. Our kids had no trouble looking for their favorite food. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious too! Everywhere is so clean, staff spoke English and very friendly. The hot springs are exceptional. Loved our stay overall. Great ocean view everywhere in the hotel and our room by the way!

Sarina

The room is big and clean. The best part of the stay was its onsen and its dinner! The onsen is rotated daily between male and female, so one gets to try different onsens every day. The dinner (included as half board) is really very good, with many courses and served nicely course after course. Considering everything, the price is definitely not expensive!
